GROWING SHAPES

The shapes evolve.

They grow.

Naturally.

They become part of the environment.

As the shapes grew in my studio and spread across my wall and table, their natural course was to overflow into the outdoor environment where they can mimic this same kind of explosive growth in a new environment; where nothing is certain and the walls are not all white. Evolving in the ever-changing environment gives a new perspective on what can be an overlooked space. When the natural comes into contact with the contrasting man made and shiny shapes, it literally reflects back a new image of the space.

The element of natural growth is core to this installation, whereby the naturally occurring forms are re-invented into new shapes - which are ultimately their own core organic structure, as represented in biology and chemistry. When you look close enough, the fluid and organic still possesses a structural form. The hexagonal shapes emerge from their natural state, to expose the structure we cannot see with a naked eye, yet rely on so heavily to shape our own environment.
